We have of course been tinkering in the background to make sure our app is functioning in tip top form, but this update is all about bringing back a highly requested feature. Yes, swiping articles is back! You can now open an article, swipe left and read the next article, or swipe again and again, there is no end to the swiping fun one can have, oh… and we even track your position in the home feed, so when you are done reading, we’ll put you right back in the feed at the last article you looked at, Nice! Stay tuned, as we have much more in the pipeline.

We have another release for you that goes a long way to improving the experience in our App. If you used a larger font size in articles and found the app was crashing because of it, then that should happen no more, we squashed that bug! We also improved our comment count, and even added Google Sign in, so you can use the same account on our website and in the app too. For our puzzle lovers, we have an all new puzzles screen to make finding them much easier. We have some exciting things on the horizon so stay tuned for more.

A small number of our users who use their account across more than one of our apps, have logged in only to see their saved topics all go missing, thank you for bringing this to our attention.

We are sorry this happened, and we have fixed that bug to make sure it doesn’t happen in future - You can head to the My News tab to set those up again.

We have also fixed a number of visual elements and things behind the scenes to improve the experience.

Have you been logged in and tried to view the comments, only for them to simply not appear? If you did, then we believe that annoying bug has now been fixed. We also fixed some other minor issues and cleared out a few cobwebs.

As promised, we are back with a big update! So what goodies do we have for you this time?

1. Comment History! If you love to comment, and see how your comments are being received, then head to the My Account tab and you will see a new option to access “My Comments”. You can even load the original article from there too.

2. Have you ever tried to watch a Live Video only to find it doesn’t work? A right pain we know. This has now been fixed, so grab a snack and enjoy!

3. Finally, one for you techies, we of course fixed a bunch of bugs, updated dependencies and frameworks all to keep your experience silky smooth

We aren’t finished though, the team is working on some rather cool personalisation features, so stay tuned for more to come in future releases!

This release has a lot of under the hood changes, mainly fixing stability issues a small number of users were seeing. This quick fire release a couple of minor issues. From time to time the main image in the article was not loading, turns out, they don’t like odd characters in their URL, who would have guessed? This release marks a huge update for the app, but mostly in a way that is not very visual. We have spent a huge amount of time rebuilding many of the sections to use modern code practices to give you the best experience now, and in the future. That's not to say you don’t get some nice little treats for you too, so here’s a couple of highlights

Accessibility has taken a huge step forward, we now respect your devices settings for accessibility font sizes, not just in the article view, but the entire app! We’ve made improvements to voice over too and there is still more to come.

Tool Tips have been introduced as a quick way to help you understand what some icons and features do, there will be more added in the future so keep an eye out for these.

There is so much more as well. We added new controls in “My Account” for setting the Apps Theme, Reducing Animations if you find them distracting and even resetting the tooltips if you forgot what a feature did. There are updates to video playback, Toolbars, tab bars, scrolling, swiping, memory usage, pretty much everything about the app has had some changes made.

This is just the beginning, we have some more big updates coming soon too, so stay tuned!

With the app improvements and features we want to add, we simply can’t do these things prior to iOS13. * Did the app crash when you sometimes tried to play a video? Yeah, we saw this happen too, very annoying and all fixed now.

* When changing the app theme, bookmarks would get annoyed and hide themselves. Not particularly helpful at all, but now they are happy again in any theme you set.

In our first autumnal update, we would like to announce a big update to Voice Over Mode. This one is for our accessibility users, and it now actually works and rather well too! This update marks a big change for User Accounts and Commenting going forward in order to address a number of issues. In this release, we have updated the user accounts back end, what does this mean for you?
• You will be automatically logged out of your account upon installation, so you will need to log back in again. We are sorry for the small inconvenience but it is a necessary step to ensure your data security. If you don't remember your login details, you can use the "Forgot Password" feature to reset it.
• Commenting on articles is temporarily suspended. This feature is getting a huge overhaul, and will be turned back on again as soon as possible, we are very sorry but this is just unavoidable at this time due to the new user account security.
Also in this update is a fix for a small number of users that have been experiencing battery drain while the app is not being used. We will continue to monitor this issue going forward, if you are still experiencing battery drain in the background with this release, please use the in app feedback to get in touch.
